Rewa means “hope” in Tibetan– Rewa has truly honored its name and has become a beacon of hope in our community. We were founded in 2022 to provide hundreds and thousands of Tibetan refugees living in throughout in India with the life skills, resources, opportunities, and support needed to develop their abilities and potential.
When Zhidey Khangsar, a similar mentoring center for Tibetan young men closed its doors in our city, Ngawang Nyima, our founder and director knew he had to act. Armed with 17 years of experience working with Zhidey Khangsar, he founded Rewa to continue addressing the needs of our Tibetan refugees.
Rewa is a nonprofit organization that works under the umbrella of HH 14th Dalai Lama.
Our Vision
We want to create a world where Tibetan men are empowered to realize their full potential, free from addiction, barriers of inequality, and equipped with the tools to lead meaningful, productive, and healthy lives.
We envision a future where our youth are active leaders and change-makers in their communities, driving positive social, economic, and cultural transformations on a global scale.
Who We Serve
We work with young, Tibetan refugee men. Many of our young men are school dropouts, unskilled, unemployed, orphaned, or are addicted to substances.
After a failed uprising against Chinese rule in 1959, the Dalai Lama and approximately 80,000 Tibetans fled their homeland to escape persecution and potential imprisonment by Chinese authorities in late 1959 – 1960.
Today, Tibetans experience:
-Separation from friends and family
-Limited access to resources
-Housing instability
-Significant unemployment
-Acculturation stress due to discrimination
-Cultural and language Barriers
-Limited access to healthcare facilities
-No proper government documentation
We exist to help our young men overcome these barriers and become active leaders in their communities, driving positive social, economic, and cultural transformations.
Our Values
Teamwork
We believe youth empowerment begins with partnership. Sustainable change is only possible when a community unites around a common vision.
Diversity
We honor the unique differences of every individual and recognize their unwavering right to respect, dignity, fairness, and equality.
Integrity
We take personal responsibility for ensuring the best standard of professional conduct with each other.
